Created by Jon Bobrow

Let the Games Begin!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Mar 16, 2018 at 12:39:50 AM

So much amazing progress!!

With 14 days still to go and already fully funded, we’ve not only surpassed $80,000 but with more than 700 of you, our community keeps growing!

So far, we've shared two games, Mortals and Fracture, competitive and cooperative, 2 player and 3 player, and we’d like to share more games! Drumroll pleasessseee…

KABOOOM!

Watch your finger, cuz this bomb is going off and the only thing between you, MacGyver, and that spastic bomb is rest of your risk-taking bomb-squad. This take on Russian roulette is just the right amount of luck, a dab of strategy, and a perfect way to make no one feel left out at game night.

Take turns potentially setting off the bomb, careful not to miss the shield(Green) or you'll blow up the brigade.
Take turns potentially setting off the bomb, careful not to miss the shield(Green) or you'll blow up the brigade.

Bomb Brigade is the first game designed by Holly Gore, Jeff Kowalski and Colin Gallo for the IndieCade East Game Jam. We loved it instantly and the week following IndieCade, bombs were going off in every bar in NYC (only Blink bombs, no fingers harmed in the making of this gif). We couldn’t stop playing, and now we are done hogging this game to ourselves. Want to hear more from the designers, we’ve got you covered, up close and personal in this interview ;)

Now that we've reached our goal, we’re is the wonderful spot of making decisions to make your wildest dreams come true… That’s how this works: Step 1, fund kickstarter (wild dream), Step 2, wildest dreams. We take our Blinks with us everywhere, and we think you should be able to as well.

$100,000 Stretch goal

Blinks are a wonderfully portable game system and since they don’t rely on other devices, think of how much fun they’d be lighting up your next camping trip! While above is only a prototype that serves the right purpose, we’ll design the perfect solution to travel with your Blinks, who knows, we might even be able to make it the packaging it ships in :). (We expect your collection of Blinks will grow over time, so we are taking that into account as well)

More and More Games

Can’t wait for our next game? Us tooo! we’ll be dropping the next game in just a few days. We’ve only got a little time left in the campaign and so much to share, so keep spreading the word.

No Wrong way to Play

This past weekend, Blinks made an appearance at the Liberty Science Center as a part of New Jersey Makers Day! A big thanks to everyone who came out to beat us at our own game! (it is oddly satisfying 😋 )

This girl was a master of her own game, and her sister, built some really neat interactive flowers.

We did it!

Blinks are 100% funded!

What an incredible weekend! Around 8pm on Sunday evening we were just a few hundred dollars away from hitting our goal and then on Monday afternoon, it happened!

Enormous thanks to all of our backers - big and small, to everyone who came out to a Blinks game night and to everyone who shared about Blinks on social media! We absolutely could not have done this without you!

We’ve got more Blinks events coming up, including a playtest and Q&A this Wednesday on Kickstarter Live. Mark your calendar and submit a question, we want to hear from you and share the excitement we get to see everyday. Seeing us on live stream not good enough?! Then say hi in person at the Liberty Science Center this Saturday. Also coming soon are more details on each of the games shipping out to our Backers!

If you are reading this and haven’t gotten yourself a set of Blinks yet, there is unquestonably no better time than now! The people have spoken - Blinks are ready to take center stage at your next game night!

Our next step is posting our stretch goals, so keep getting the word out and thank you for bringing Blinks to life!

A Community of 570…and Still Growing!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Mar 02, 2018 at 03:40:23 AM

Did You Hear That?

If you heard a yelp of joy around 10:30am last Friday, it was probably us here at the Move38 Workshop celebrating because that was when the Blinks Kickstarter was officially 50% funded. And things didn’t slow down a bit over the weekend! We screamed past the 40, 50 and 55,000 marks and as of this writing are sitting at >$65,000 dollars raised for Blinks!

And while the money is awesome, you know what’s really awesome? The fact that over 500 of you have committed to creating a community for this totally new game system! Whether you’re drawn to the game play, the minimalist product design or the open source platform it’s your collective shared interest that is the lifeblood of Blinks and we can’t thank you enough! We’re closer than ever to letting the games begin!

Light Up Game Night!

Don’t forget you can win yourself a Blinks Dev or Social Pack by helping us spread the word about Blinks! Check out our Facebook Share Contest for the chance to get your hands on Blinks first! (Yup. contest winners cut the line 🙂)

Early Birds are SOLD OUT!
about 6 years ago – Fri, Feb 23, 2018 at 04:25:22 PM

Wow, that was fast!

A HUGE thanks to everyone who backed Blinks over our first weekend. Within the first 24 hours, the early birds got the worm, buying up all of the [Early Bird] Social Packs, and after 48 hours the [Early Bird] Blinks tier was sold out as well. As if that wasn’t enough action for the weekend, Move38 took over IndieCade East for an incredible Game Jam.

Game Jam, who in the what now?

We gave 9 teams a Blinks Dev-Kit and 12 hours to see what they could come up with and the results were phenomenal. A huge thanks to established game designer Shawn Pierre, for running the game jam.

Every team brought their A-game (don’t worry, that is just a phrase, they didn’t all bring the same game)

The diversity of games presented made things quite challenging for our jury of star game designers: Naomi Clark, Nick Fortugno, Luke Crane, and Celia Pearce.

Drumroll please... give it up for our “Out of the Box” winners, Yuxin Gao and John Bruneau, for their game Family, and Jingyu Sui, Charles Hans Huang, and Danyang Guo, who took home the “World Builder” award for 6 Minute Life. And our biggest congrats go to our "Grand Jury Prize" winners, Wei Yu and Shiyun Liu, for their colorful and addictive strategy game, BeRrY.

Speaking of BeRrY!

We’re wasting no time testing gameplay of BeRrY! This Thursday Move38 is headed to the NYU Game Center to play test both the version of BeRrY conceived during the Game Jam and an experimental second edition. (We said we’re not wasting time! 😎)

At the Speed of Light*

In our wildest dreams we had no idea we would be this far along this quickly and we couldn’t have done it without you! Without you - the first backers of Blinks - this game could not be a reality and we can’t thank you enough!

But we are far from finished! We need your help to get as many people in the game as possible! By sharing our Kickstarter with your friends not only do you ensure your own Blinks arrive, you help create an even wider range of fellow players!

Retweeting this Tweet or sharing posts from the We ❤️ Blinks Facebook group helps spread the word! Hey, even just chatting with us on Twitter helps. Drop us a line - we love making new friends!

Thanks!

- Jonathan & the Move38 team

*Did you know that Blinks use light to communicate? Now you do, and fair warning, these update might get punnier :) we can't help ourselves
